The spatial tension trussed Wintergarden encloses a retail space atrium which accesses to and overlooks the Detroit River. One of three highly visible elements in the architectural design of this major renovation featuring multiple Novum system products. Tension cables and rods, architectural steel, beam to beam, linear and point supported glass combine as roof, walls and external soffet.
The main entry features a tensile elliptical enclosure using just two steel columns and a roof truss and is one of three distinct architectural scopes on this major renovation. The dramatic, minimal structure uses point supported structural glazing on tension cables. The walls are cable trusses which span roof to floor and then brace longitudinally to vertical cable trusses which are part of the column support.
The largest suspended glass walkway in the United States connects four commercial towers to each other and the adjacent podium in a circle. One of three distinctive architectural elements on this major renovation it was built using Novum modular concepts. Etched glass floor, wood handrails on glass balustrades, metal panels, support cables, steel structure, curved light shroud - single source.
