Midland Metropolitan University Hospital
Birmingham, England
Novum Structures was contracted to engineer, supply, fabricate, and install various architectural and structural components for a high-profile building project. Novum engineered two ward roofs with steel bowstring trusses and ETFE sheeting, blending structural integrity with modern aesthetics. The main front façade featured large steel bowstring trusses and ETFE, enhancing the building's airy appearance.
OVO Hydro
Glasgow, Scotland
Novum was responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of an ETFE air filled pillow façade. From an early stage, Novum engineers worked closely with the architects, Foster + Partners, to create an ETFE screen print that offered effective daylight illumination to the foyer while controlling solar gain and ensuring visibility of projected images at night. Novum used proprietary software to map the ETFE print pattern. This ensured that every dot lined up on the welds and seams.
Gainbridge Fieldhouse
Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
Novum engineered, fabricated, and installed the long-spanning ETFE canopy at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse plaza located in Indianapolis, IN. Featuring Novum's Air Filled Pillow System, a total of 12 ETFE pillows span horizontally to cover approximately 8,360 sq ft of coverage. Novum's Architecturally Exposed Steel is used as support for purlins and upstands of the canopy. The canopy measures 116′ long by 71′ wide in size.
Q3 Academy
Birmingham, England
At the core of this Design and Enterprise Academy lies a contemporary open space around which key learning and meeting spaces are located. Novum was contracted to design, furnish and install the ETFE roof over this space which consists of 40 triangular-shaped air filled pillows. A steel support above the glulam beams supports the aluminum profiles which clamp the ETFE pillows. The resulting bright, spacious area creates a stimulating learning environment for students.
