About

This Work

Novum worked on the design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation of three canopies to transform the dated walkways of the shopping mall at Lexicon in Bracknell, England. Each unique walkway was carefully considered and utilised multiple Novum Systems along with a combination of environmental materials. Novum’s ETFE Stressed Skin Membrane (SSM) System was used on the Eagle Lane canopy, a combination of steel and the SSM-System was used on Stanley Walk, and finally, Novum’s Edge Clamped Glass (ECG) cladding system was used for the Charles Street entrance canopy. The canopy on Charles Street is 90m long, which proved to be particularly challenging due to its central location and the amount of glass to install included 220 triangular glass panels which were fixed to the timber structure. The overall result has revitalized Bracknell’s shopping district, which was exactly the intention of the entire architectural team.
