About

This Work

Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, the Sofitel Los Angeles underwent a renovation to modernize the hotel exterior. Novum was contracted to design and install two external glass fin walls, one on each side of the porte cochere. Since this project is in a highly seismic area, multiple analyses were performed to examine progressive collapse susceptibility. Triple laminated, tempered glass fins braced by stainless steel rods create the slightly curved glass walls. The entrance lanterns, which are part of the porte cochere and frame the entrance, are made of point supported glass with interior support columns. The result is a welcoming, modern hotel entrance.
