This Work

At the base of the Willis Tower in Chicago, Novum engineered, fabricated, and installed a curving skylight over the new entertainment complex of the iconic skyscraper. From inside the complex, the 85’ x 75’ skylight provides visitors with a spectacular view of Willis Tower. On the roof of the new space is an outdoor patio that provides an up close and personal view of Chicago’s newest “hill.” The Novum Designer Assist Process was used in collaboration with our in-house engineering, fabrication, supply and installation capabilities, to provide an integrated skin + structure solution for the skylight. This process was beneficial for the design team to properly evaluate the design options by understanding the aesthetic, structural, economic, and construction time impacts of each possible design. Utilising this approach allowed Novum to bring the most value to the design team as the skylight solution was developed, engineered and installed, resulting in a celebrated structure for everyone to enjoy in the windy city.
