About

This Work

Structure is reduced through the use of long rectangular ETFE pillows to clad the canopy. Air filled pillows are captured on all four sides with AL profiles that are supported by the steel structure below. The steel structure consists of W-flange columns and W-flange beams spanning the columns with tapered, cantilevering members. HSS members were used to span between the W-flange members to support the long edges of the pillows and to handle the lateral loads applied by the air filled pillow system. Below the cladding of the canopy are strategically placed 1/2” thick steel plate fins that create individual wave patterns under the canopy.
