About
This Work
Novum engineered, fabricated and constructed two new façades for the existing building on the Capitol Square in Madison, Wisconsin. The goal was to create a dynamic façade that appears to fold in elevation. This unique geometry was achieved with the combination of custom vertical steel mullions and point supported glass. The folded elevations are supported by galvanized and painted HSS 6×2 vertical mullions spaced typically every 5’-4”. The glazing is an insulated makeup that consists of a laminated exterior lite and a monolithic interior lite. A low-e was used to help with thermal performance. To pay homage to the lakes to the north and south of the building, the lite on the outside of the glazing makeup is tinted blue.
