About

This Work

Novum was contracted to design and install five point supported glass canopies for the west walls of Terminals D, E and F of Richmond International Airport. Novum designed the end connections for the beams and purlins as moment connections to provide lateral stability. Each trapezoid shaped canopy measures 29′ (9m) wide at the outer edge and 26′ (8m) wide at the edge closest to the building. The steel support framing system for each canopy attaches back to the building structure and is suspended by diagonal steel support rods that attach to the building.
